The Kyoto Railway Museum is one of the largest railway museums in Japan, offering guests an immersive experience into the country’s rich railway history. The museum opened on April 28, 2016.
On the first floor, you will find 54 historic train cars, ranging from steam locomotives to the Shinkansen. You will also discover railroad facilities and other engaging exhibits.
On the second floor, you’ll find more exhibits, including a railway diorama, driving simulators, a train control center, and a play area for kids. There is also a restaurant and a break space.
On the top floor is a sky terrace where visitors can get a panoramic view of Kyoto along with trains, including the Shinkansen, as they depart near Kyoto Station.
